Hotel Hamilton & Event Center will host
A newspaper article written by Larry Chipman informing the public can be viewed in the April 23rd edition of the Caldwell County News. The article reads as follows:
As we enter tornado season, have you given thought about what you would do if a tornado or other disaster hit Hamilton or Caldwell County? An Emergency Preparedness Community Event will be held in Hamilton on April 26, 2019 to talk about how to prepare for and how to respond to such a disaster. The event will begin at 6:30 pm at the Hotel Hamilton Event Center with a potluck dinner. If your last name begins with letters A-N, please bring soup or chili. If you last name begins with letters O-Z, please bring a dessert. Tableware, water and rolls will be provided.
The emergency preparedness program will begin around 7:00. The theme will be Preparing for Tornado Season. Storm Spotter and weather expert Joe Dietrick will present a program on how to interpret the weather, how to prepare before a tornado and how to respond after a tornado.
Joe’s program will be followed by a presentation from the state’s “Ready in 3” program, highlighting 72-hour kits and family first aid kits, plus tips. Information will be available for how to make a kit, develop a plan and stay informed.
Please come enjoy a meal, meet new people and learn how to be better prepared for any disaster. A free drawing will be held for a NOAA weather radio.
