I come from a land of a lot of snow...the greatest snow on earth, actually..... UTAH!!
Snow has never intimidated me, or kept me from going out and getting things done.
However, the ice that we experience in Missouri is not snow! It's a death defying roller coaster with no brakes!! Just leaving the driveway is near impossible! You would think this would be a problem, but nope!! I just soak it in. We play games, watch movies, sew, and craft! The Redford's look forward to a good ice storm or freezing rain because it helps us slow down and enjoy each other!!
The last two weekends we have been "iced in" and I have ZERO complaints!!
All things Hamilton Missouri, specifically tourism. Places to eat, places to stay, activities to delight!

A Memory Quilt
Four years ago, after visiting the Bed & Breakfast with the boys, we decided to ask our guests to help us with a special project.
How great would it be to make a quilt, one block each representing our guests. It was a little far fetched at the time to think I would ever have more than just a wall hanging. However, guests responded with so many BEAUTIFUL blocks. I just pieced together the last of this Quilt. It will be our "first four years". It is incredible to look at each of these blocks, to think of the guests, the memories!
I look forward to the next four years with great joy! I am so blessed!!

World's Largest Spool of Thread
The World's Largest Spool of Thread
22 feet tall, 8 feet wide and contains more than 1,000,000 (ONE MILLION) YARDS OF THREAD!!
The spool is located at 300 East Bird Street in Hamilton, Missouri. The block (and building behind it) are the future home of the Missouri Quilt Museum.
Ryan and Dakota Redford along with their 4 children (and a few community friends) hand spooled all one million yards, donated by Aurifil Thread. Karen Miller from Redbird Quilt Co, is an Aurifilosopher (pictured here with the Redford Family on the day of reveal). She coordinated the donation of thread by Aurifil.
Since the unveiling of the spool on September 19, 2018 many visitors to the city of Hamilton have also contributed to the monument by adding their own thread, which is highly encouraged! We are currently awaiting the official notification from Guinness on its official designation as the World's Largest Spool of Thread. For now, we know its HUGE!!
Add this to your list of "to do's" while visiting Hamilton. Stop by for a photo op, add some thread and then brag to your friends that you know what 1,000,000 yards of thread look like!
To locate the spool in town, turn East at HyKlas grocery store and travel 2 blocks.

Amazed by You!!
Happy Valentine's Day to my sweetheart!!
There is no question that I am absolutely spoiled rotten! Every day he shows me how someone is supposed to be loved. He treats me the way God see's me, and he helps me to see my own potential. I am so grateful to Ryan for taking a chance on the immature, a little bratty, extremely emotional young lady. He has helped me become who I am today.
A long way to go but look how far we have come!!
This is a picture of our wedding day, February 5, 2000 at the Mount Timpanogos Temple, American Fork, Utah.
So, now I have to brag on him a little more!!
Fast forward to February 5, 2019
Here we are, 19 years to the day later! Same temple, same spot, same two hearts that have grown a lot larger and fonder for one another and for God.
For our anniversary Ryan asked me to dress in church clothes; he was taking me to the temple. A few days prior he said he was taking me "overnight to the city for our anniversary". So I packed a bag, put on a dress and out the door we went. About 45 minutes from the house I said "oh no, I don't think I brought my wallet and my temple recommend is in there" He responded with "uhhh, you are going to need your wallet...for more than one reason.
Well, he took me to "the city" (Kansas City, Missouri) where we promptly got on a plane...definitely needed my wallet (During the flight he showed me a 1 1/2 hour slide show; pictures of our lives together with our children. He is so the BEST!) and flew to "the city" (Salt Lake City, Utah) and then drove to our temple!!
He took me back to the place where we were sealed for time and all eternity on our anniversary even though it is states away!!
SPOILED!?!?! YES!!
Ryan had printed names from Family Search to take with us to the temple so that we could do family sealings. This allows other families to be eternal. And we did it in the same place that we started our eternal family 19 years previous, almost to the hour!!
After the temple we headed to my mom and dad's bridal shop, Veronica Michaels Bridal, to say hello to them! Good thing, if mom found out we were in Utah, albeit 36 hours, and didn't stop to say hello...TROUBLE!
After visiting with my parents for a bit we headed back to SLC to our hotel, Anniversary Inn. For years (as long as I can remember) I have dreamed about staying in this cute BnB. It is so romantic and each room is themed, LOVE!! We checked in and then headed to Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I got my mainstay.. Thai Lettuce Wraps--oh they make me so happy! YUM! We also enjoyed bread with vinegar and oil (my favorite) and then of course a piece of cheescake. Mango something or other. It was so good!
The night does not end there, no it does not! WICKED!! Yes, he took me to see WICKED. This is the second time on our anniversary that he has brought me to WICKED. He could repeat it every year and I would never, ever complain. I absolutely love this show!
As we were moving about downtown between dinner and show, etc. the snow was falling so gently. Beautiful, like out of a movie, or fairy tale. My own fairy tale!
We awoke the next morning to over a foot of the white powdery stuff. It was incredibly beautiful but the roads were terrible! He then surprised me with a little time with my bestie, Cindy Lou Who. We got pedicures and ate at Cafe Rio. I absolutely LOVE Cafe Rio and we do not have ONE in Missouri! Then he picked me back up and whisked me away to some shopping before heading back to the airport. It was an absolutely beautiful way to spend our anniversary.
When we were dating Ryan sent me a CD of Lonestar with our song "Amazed". I was shocked and totally enamored. He did not listen to or like country music, but for me, he made it ours!
Every time our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby, when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts, I can see your dreams
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby, when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts, I can see your dreams
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby, I'm amazed by you
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby, I'm amazed by you
The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me
Baby, you surround me
Touch every place in my heart
And it feels like the first time every time
I want to spend the whole night in your eyes
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me
Baby, you surround me
Touch every place in my heart
And it feels like the first time every time
I want to spend the whole night in your eyes
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby, I'm amazed by you
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby, I'm amazed by you
Every little thing that you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do, oh
Every little thing that you do

I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side

TOILET SEAT MUSEUM?
Yes you read that right!! A toilet seat muesum! We were more than thrilled, DELIGHTED, to come across this unusual museum in San Antonio, Texas. Over a thousand toilet seats each telling a story.
What is a museum if it doesn't tell a story? This story is awesome!!
Barney Smith, the 90 something year old "curator" of this museum was a riot! He barely hobbled out from his home to the garage where he opened the door to reveal his collection of artwork, all on toilet seats. This collection is more than just art, it's a history museum as well! Barney had seats documenting most large events in the United States over the last 75 years. This one, has an actual piece of The Challenger space shuttle. How cool is that?
This is the "Million Dollar Toilet Seat". It has a million shredded dollars glued to it's face. WHAT!?
As we walked around the garage, converted museum, we found story after story. Barney sat in his char and would say, "8 seats down on your right, 3rd row from the top is the..." and proceed to tell us the story behind that seat. He knew where all of them were. He had a story or three for each! It was awesome. Someone made a seat for Barney with a trophy that said "King of the Commode". He proudly displays it!
Barney keeps meticulous records. Each person visiting the museum was asked to sign in. He also has everyone sign a seat! Then, next to your name on the guest list, he records which seats you signed while you were there? How do you qualify to sign a seat? Well, whatever fits into your story! For instance, we all signed the Missouri Seat. (the one Bdog is holding). A Missouri License plate is on the front and signatures cover the rest, with the date of when you visit. Ryan signed the Eagle Scout seat. We found a seat that was signed by the Senior Center of Springville Utah. Another item to add to his collection.
This was categorized as the World's Widest Toilet Seat. Haha. He had just cut a seat in half and added a board in between!!
As you can see here, one for every olympics, one with a piece of Sadam Hussein's toilet glued to a seat, one for every state, one for every president (I like that idea), one for every Anniversary he and his wife shared before her passing. He has journaled his life and his history in toilet seats.
We really enjoyed this crazy museum. More than what we saw, though, we enjoyed the man behind it. We stuck around for a while and did a little service for Barney. We were happy to discover that so many people had enjoyed his museum for so long that it would be moving from his home garage, in a regular neighborhood, to an ACTUAL MUSEUM. His hometown will be honoring him but displaying each seat in the Barney Smith Toilet Seat Museum near Dallas, Texas.
Go, enjoy his sweet collection, but more than that, enjoy the man that built it!

Sappy and Happy
19 years ago today!!
THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!
I'm asking you to share your life with me
Now and forever I guarantee
I'll always stay by your side
I promise my love to you
I'm willing and able and ready to
Whatever you need I am here for you
And I'll always be
From here to eternity
It's long but here goes the beginnings of our love story. I left A LOT out because I remember every detail and date and conversation. I will spare you all of that. This is the shortest I could make it.
I was introduced to Ryan by my roommate. We were going to different Universities in different cities 3 hours apart. She, grew up with him, states away. It had been years since they had seen each other, but were happy to be reconnected. When we met we were both seeing other people. We were looking for friends to hang out with over summer break.
Every day I would go to Ryan's apartment after work and a large group of us would go roller blading, hiking, watch movies, sit around and visit, whatever we could think of, really. We had some great adventures. About a month after I met him, (June) he was involved in a pretty terrible car accident where he was T- boned. I came to his place after work, like normal, and that's when I found out, that hours earlier, he had been in this wreck. I was stunned. Why hadn't he called and told me? And I scolded him for not doing so. Then I thought, why on earth would he have called me? He was blessed to walk away with a few bumps and bruises, but I know his life was spared that day.
Just two weeks to the day later (July), after hanging out and roller-blading thru the sprinklers I looked a blazing mess when dressed in his dry over-sized t-shirt and gym shorts and my own lace up Doc Martin boots, his socks to my knee and mascara running down my face, I too was involved in a car accident. I had fallen asleep on the freeway, not for long, but just long enough to not move out of the way and rear end a car ahead of me going slower than I was. The responding officer took one look at me and probably thought he needed to issue a sobriety test! He told me over and over how lucky I was to be alive, that "the person driving that car (pointing to mine) shouldn't be here anymore" A few broken bones and pride that was hurt, but I too was alive and well. I still, rarely if ever, drive at night.
Two weeks later (still July) Ryan left Utah for Washington to see his brother home from his mission, and then head to Mexico to work for a month. He was gone for just two days I was crying to my mom about how much I missed Ryan, that I loved him and was going to marry him. Her response "Don't you think you should go on a date first?" We talked on the phone every day while he was gone and early on I said "when you get home I think we should go on a date". He sent me a birthday present about a month later that knocked my socks off. It was so romantic. (August 23rd) All little things that he had learned about me with a little gift to identify each one. If I wasn't smitten before...now!! A week before he was to come back from Mexico, he called to let me know they needed him for an extra month. Now instead of coming back to Utah and starting fall semester he was staying in Mexico, flying directly back to Washington and would return to Utah in January for school. I was distraught!! I have been waiting for him for 6 weeks already and now not until January? A few more weeks passed with our phone calls back and forth and then this one "I had my mom change my flight. I am coming to Utah for 10 days before I go home to Washington" Later down the road I learned his conversation with his mother was something like "I need to go to Utah first, there is a girl there and I have got to see what she is thinking!
He flew in and brought me gifts from Mexico. We hung out with our group all weekend. We spent a little time alone and talked about marriage. Monday we had our first kiss and Tuesday we went out alone for the first time to a company dinner where he introduced me to all the guys he had worked with in Mexico as "his fiance". It was a whirlwind 10 days (end of September into October)!! He then went home to Washington until after Christmas. We spoke every day for hours! His poor dad had a collect phone number for the office and we used and abused that thing! I am sure we cost them hundreds of dollars in fees. Ryan officially proposed on December 31, 1999 with the cutest scavenger hunt for puzzle pieces that ended with a poem. I learned that the ring was under the seat of the car that I was sitting on while driving all around the county looking for my puzzle pieces! How had it been there all along, what a tease!! I still love how much he loves to tease and surprise me! We were married just 5 weeks later on February 5, 2000 for time and eternity in the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple in American Fork, Utah. 19 years later we have had numerous adventures, lots of surprises and an amazing journey that I would still say is just beginning.
A few pictures of our years together with our beautiful boys!
My mom recently asked me if I could define her in one word. Or my dad? Myself? I thought a lot about this. As I was contemplating I thought about my Ryan. One word? Well, I need two. "Covenant Keeper". If that doesn't explain him, than nothing does. Ryan loves the Lord with all that he is. He serves, loves, gives, lives for Christ. And so that others will want to know Him because they know Ryan. 19 years ago Ryan and I made covenants to each other and with God to be with and support each other FOREVER. He has loved me more every day. He has served me more every day.
In the movie the Princess Bride the hero Wesley always tells her "As you wish." Anyone that knows me and Ryan will tell you that he doesn't just tell me that, he DOES THAT! If I can dream it, He does it! I mention it in passing, he see's that it happens. He is a great listener and surprises me daily with the little cues he picks up on even when I didn't know I left it for him to find. I truly am his Princess and I am so grateful that he treats me as such!
I love and adore that he is a man of honor, character, integrity, grit, charity, love, compassion, hard work, intelligence, I could go on and on. He is passing these traits onto his boys by example and DOING! An incredible man and father and an even better Eternal Companion. I love you Ryan!
Every little thing that you do
I'M AMAZED BY YOU!

Let It SNOW!
We just received our first real snow in Hamilton this season.
IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!
I especially love how it outlines the ponds and makes them stand out!
I just love a good snow storm. When the earth is covered in a beautiful blanket of white. You look out the window, and see that she's peaceful. Happy. She basks in her pure beauty. Now of course, each season holds its own kind of beautiful. But a white dusting is gorgeous!
Enjoy the beauty all around you. God gives us these things for our JOY!
We don't always have snow in Hamilton, but every season is awesome. We look forward to sharing Hamilton's beauty with you. Book your stay today!

Deck the Halls!
Meg has been bringing the Christmas Spirit at the house. She spent most the weekend making it as cozy as possible for all of our December guests!
Tree in Main Sitting room
I absolutely LOVE that the stairwell isn't just garland. Beautiful!
This shows the sitting room fireplace, mantle and tree. Hooray for stockings!
Close up of the mantle.
Funny story behind this tree. I had a tree shipped to the house to use this Christmas. The pictures online of this 7.5' tree were beautiful! When it arrived, it was a cheap, yucky tree. I was so sad. Meg didn't take that as a negative. Instead she used just the top half and created this gorgeous tree for the dining room. MEG! AHHH I LOVE IT!!
Kitchen island runner.
In the kitchen...
Breakfast area has these super cute milk jugs from Shatto. Meg made them so cute for Christmas. They will be fun and versatile for every holiday!
Dining Room.
Close up of counter and tree in dining room.
And a final look at the sitting room. Way to go MEG. Now I need to come enjoy it all!
You can visit us during the month of December and enjoy all these decorations too. Visit homeinnhamilton.com We look forward to hosting you!!
